CVS & Walgreens Deals Starting Sept. 19, 2010

I've had a crazy week and have not been able to do my own match ups for CVS this week, I do apologize. For this week I am going to direct you to another site that I follow and enjoy. Her name is Liza and her site is Addicted to Saving. She has put together this week's CVS deals for you, GO HERE to see all of the great deals Liza has lined up for us this week. I will however, put together a scenario for all of you by tomorrow so you can get the best deals, with the least amount OOP.

This week at CVS you can get some FREE Revlon lipstick, FREE Right Guard Deo, FREE Edge Shaving Gel, & a FREE Bayer Contour Blood Glucose Meter, plus quite a few other great deals on food! Head on over to Addicted to Saving to see the entire run down!

*******************************************************************************

For this week's Walgreens deals head on over to Wild For Wags for the list of Superdeals starting tomorrow! There are some really great deals to be had this week. Some Money Makers and cheap laundry detergent.

Here is an important tip when shopping at Walgreens and using coupons with their sales. Walgreens has lots of their own coupons plus they do accept MFQs. BUT Walgreens has very specific coupon policies which can make things a bit confusing. So follow these simple Rules:

1. Carry with you Walgreen's Coupon Policy, which you can PRINT HERE: often times even the employees and managers are not farmiliar with Walgreen's coupon policy, so you will more than likely need to refer to it.

2. Walgreens will not accept more coupons then the number of items you are purchasing, the register will beep and not accept, if this happens you will need to throw in a 'Filler Item'.

3. Hand your coupons in a very specific order and ONE AT A TIME. This is important otherwise the register will beep and won't accept your coupons.

Here's the coupon order:
1. MFQ First
2. In Ad Coupon from Wags' weekly flyer or ad
3. Walgreens Monthly Booklet Q: These can be found by the stand that also holds the weekly ad.
You may not always have ALL three coupons listed above, you may only have one of the above or two of the above. But in any case that is the order you need to present your coupons. Here's an example from this coming week's sales on Trident (taken directly from Wild For Wags site):

    Trident 18 piece, Dentyne 9 or 12 piece $.79 (w/in ad Q)
-$1/3 Trident gum, single packs – 09-12-10 SS
-B1G1 Dentyne Pure BOGO up to $2.00 Tearpad
    -$1/2 Trident PRINT (Facebook Coupon)
-$1/2 Trident Gum, 18pk Sept. Coupon Book (5190)
    = MONEY MAKER w/ MQ, IN AD Q & SEPT Q BOOKLET!

In this case you would present first the MFQ, once that is scanned, hand the cashier the In Ad Q, then finally the hand the cashier the Sept. Booklet Q. This will give you the MM scenario. However, note,  you will need to throw in another item to cover the MM (really this is more of an Overage type item, because you aren't receiving any money back) because Walgreen's will not give you money back.

    Walgreens Coupon Policy

Walgreens has finally released a coupon policy. I would suggest printing it off and taking it with you. I know there have been times I needed one, but now I will be armed. :) You can GO HERE to print it off and have it with you when you venture into the stores.

Walgreens Sneak Peak Starting Aug. 29

Christie at Wild For Wags has next week's Sneak Peak available with match-ups. It looks like a pretty good week at Walgreens! There looks to be at least 7 items that will be free after RR and/or coupons, plus one will be a Money Maker (MM), if you have the right coupon.

Here's a quick glimpse at a few of the freebies to be had next week, to see the full ad with match-ups, GO HERE to Wild for Wags.

Get a $10 RR WYB (1) Irwin Naturals Healthy Skin & Hair plus Nails 60 ct. $10 = FREE
    Get a $1.99 RR WYB (1) W Perfection Tampons 8 pack $1.99 = FREE
Get a $2 RR WYB (1) Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balm .07 ot .075 oz. $2 = FREE
Get a $4 RR WYB Breathe Right Strips 10 pack $4 = MONEY MAKER
     -$1.50/1 Breathe Right Product, Any 10 -12 Ct. – 04-11-10 RP
Please NOTE: Walgreens is a tricky store. You cannot have more coupons than items, and you have to present your coupons in a certain order. ALWAYS be sure to give the MFQ before the Store Q, otherwise it won't work

Almost FREE Women's Body Wash - Walgreens

Starting Aug. 8 Walgreens will have Dial NutriSkin on Sale for $3.99, you'll receive a $3 Register Reward (RR) at check out. PLUS if you use the following Dial NutriSkin Coupon for -$1/1 Dial NutriSkin. After coupon and RR, it's like getting it for FREE.

NOTE: You will pay $2.99 (+ tax) Out Of Pocket (oop). Remember you can print the above coupon 2 times per computer.  And you cannot 'roll' this RR back into itself. Meaning you can not purchase the same prdct with the RR, because it will not trigger the machine to print another RR.

Pilot Pen Overage at Walgreens starting July 18:

Visit Wild For Wags for more info:
Go to Coupons.com to click on the following Click & Save (like the one pictured over there), it will take you to a site to sign up and receive a -$1/1 Pilot Pen sent via email.

This coupon along with a Walgreens Coupon from Walgreens July coupon booklet (found in their stores), which is also a -$1/1 on Pilot Pens.

The Pilot Pens will be on sale starting Sunday for $1.19ea. Use both coupons and you'll have $.81 in Overage. You'll have to have other items in your transaction to absorb the overage but I love overage items to save on items I need.

    Thanks, Wild For Wags!

**NOTE: Walgreens is tricky, I have to admit that even I struggle with Walgreens and getting the real savings, but I am slowly getting better. Anyhow- you need to FIRST give them the Manufacturer Coupon, THEN give them the Store Coupon, otherwise they will reject your Manufac. Coupon.

Walgreens Scenarios from Wild for Wags

Wild for Wags has some great weekly scenarios for Walgreens this week, click here to check them out! Also, just learned that my Publix will take Register Rewards (RR), only because these are Manufacture Coupons, and will scan at check out. I'm not sure if there is a limit of how many RR you can use but I had one on me yesterday when I did a quick run to Publix for some last minute need items and used it without any issues.

I recommend checking this out and giving it a shot. Walgreens is a bit trickier than CVS because you can't have more coupons then items, and if you do you have to throw in a "filler item" to make sure you can use all the coupons.

    Taking on Walgreens & CVS

This is going to be a good week, I believe, to get started with Walgreens and CVS. There is quite a bit to cover. But there are some REALLY good items this week to help get you started. Let's start with CVS and work our way to Walgreens.

CVS/pharmacy for all the ways you care
    CVS

I am going to place a 'print friendly' button at the bottom of this page so you are able to follow these instructions exactly as how I write them out for you. This will ensure the least amount of money out of pocket with the greatest amount of savings.

    • CVS will provide what they call Extra Care Bucks (ECB) on many of the products they are selling each week. -Think of ECB as gift certificates for CVS, you can use these of future transactions in their store on almost any items, with just a few exclusions.
    • We are going to 'Roll Over' your purchases into a couple of transactions, to ensure least amount out of pocket (OOP) & greater savings.
    • You will need to get a CVS card in order to get the savings and any ECB back. Just pick one up when you are checking out, and then go home and be sure to register online.
    • Your ECB will print at the end of your receipts, just tare them off, and keep in a safe place for future transactions.
Here are the items you are going to buy, these items with the right coupons will make you money, yes you will make money!

    - Gillette or Old Spice Body Wash 10-18 oz. ($2.00ea) - Receive $2ECB for each purchase, limit of 2
    Purchase 2
    Use the -$4/2 Gillette Body Wash Q (P&G 5/2; x5/31)
    OOP: Only tax -- FREE
Receive: $4ECB - MoneyMaker - you just made $4 and got two free items

    - Buy 2 Nivea Body Wash for $4.99 (making it $9.98 total) & Buy 2 Nivea Lip Care at $2.99 ($5.98)
for a grand total for all four items = $15.96 (Receive $5ECB when you purchase $15 worth of Nivea items.)
Use 1 B1G1 Free Body Wash Q from the June All You magazine*
Use 1 B1G1 Free Lip Care Q from the June All You magazine*
    Use 1 -$4/1 or -$3/1 Nivea Bodywash Q from P&G 5/2
Use 1 -$1/1 Nivea Lip Care
OOP: $2.98 with the -$4/1 OR $3.98 with the -$3/1
Receive $5ECB, a money maker of either $1.02 or $2.02 (depending on the Q used)

    Thanks, Money Saving Madness!

*If you have not purchased an All You or subscribed to All You magazine, I highly recommend you do so. You can purchase an All You magazine at Walmart (only), but it is less expensive to purchase an annual subscription. If you want to sign up for a subscription go to Shop At Home, sign up for Shop At Home if you haven't already done so and receive a $5 sign up bonus. Type in Magazine.com in the search, you'll receive 5% back on all purchases, one in Magazine.com's site search for All You, and after all discounts it'll only end up costing you around $12. If anyone is interested I can send you a $5 gift certificate to use at Magazines.com, which will then bring your total down to $7. I will need you email address to send you the gift certificate. Just email me your email address!

    ***Notes about CVS***
You can use as many coupons as you need to make the appropriate purchases, plus you can use as many ECB as you would like, or have, for each transaction. CVS is very coupon friendly.

In order to use ECBs your transaction total must be greater than or equal to the amount of the ECB, if not and you want to use your ECB instead of money out of your pocket, you'll have to purchase some additional items not get your transaction total up enough to use the ECB.
CVS will not give "change" for having more ECBs then your transaction toal.

    - Example: You have a $5ECB in hand and ready to use. Your transaction total only equals $3.56. You will need to grab an extra item or two to bring your total up to at least $5 or more to use your ECB, otherwise just pay OOP.

    *********

There are some other good items on sale at CVS, visit Money Saving Madness, after you have bought the above items you can then use your ECBs to go back and purchase the additional sale items you may need or want to stockpile on.

My goal is to try and walk out every time with ECBs in my pocket, however, in the beginning this may not be entirely possible.

Next week, I will talk about how to purchases in multiple transactions, and how to 'roll over' your ECBs.

    Walgreens

    Walgreens:

Walgreens is a bit trickier than CVS. They are not as coupon friendly.
    • Their policy is that you can not have more items than coupons.

If you have a MF coupon & a Walgreens coupon and only have one product, you'll have to throw in what is known as a filler item (usually a small piece of candy or something really cheap to make the coupon work).

You can also receive what Walgreen's calls Register Rewards (RR), as compared to CVS's ECB. RR print off the catalina after your sale is complete. RR can then be used on future transactions. Please note, that with RR these are consider coupons and you cannot have more coupons then items, if you do throw in a filler item.

Here are some of my favorite items this week at Walgreens. Some more Money Makers! For a full list visit Mummy Deals.

Colgate Total Advance or Enamel Strength ($2.99ea)- Receive $2RR
Use -$1/1 Colgate Toothpaste from the Diabetes & You Walgreen's booklet or SS 5/9

    OOP: $1.99 + tax

    Final: FREE after $2RR

    Complete Mulitpurpose Solution (12oz) ($7.99) - Receive $8RR

    Use -$2/1 from RP 5/16

    OOP: $5.99 +tax

Final: $2 Money Maker after $8RR

    **For the Daring at Heart**

If you would like you could 'roll' these two transactions, here's how you would do this:

You will tell the cashier you are going to do two transactions:

    1st Transaction:

    Colgate Toothpaste ($2.99)

Use -$1/1 Colgate Toothpaste from the Diabetes & You Walgreen's booklet or SS 5/9

    Pay OOP: $1.99

    Receive $2RR

    Final: Free after RR

    2nd Transaction:

Complete Multipurpose Solution ($7.99) (& grab a filler item)

    Use -$2/1 from RP 5/16

    Use $2RR from 1st Transaction

    OOP: $3.99

    Receive: $8RR

    Final: $4 Money Maker!

    ******

I hope this helps getting you started at Walgreens & CVS. Please if you have questions don't be afraid to ask.
